Teaching the church new songs

Our hope is that some of our songs are found useful by local congregations for building up the church. One song which is proving popular is our version of “And Can It Be?” by Charles Wesley. This is an example of how we’re trying to bridge the gap between traditional lyrical forms and modern musical forms. You’re never going to improve on such a classic piece of hymnwriting, but expressing it in a fresh way can help us to think once more about the meaning of the words, rather than just be enjoying a song that we happen to know well.

This is a video of Greg showing the song to Thomas Dean, the worship leader at Central church (where the New Scottish Hymns tour will be on Thur 14th March).
