May the God of peace sanctify your lives,
Keep your souls and bodies blameless.
For the time will come, when the Lord returns
And he calls his servants home.
To the King of all let our praise unite,
The immortal God of glory.
To the Lord who dwells in eternal light
And is Sovereign on his throne.
Let a hymn of praise be upon your lips
Let his word dwell in you richly.
And let all you do be for his great name,
Giving thanks to God alone.
To the King of all let our praise unite,
The immortal God of glory.
To the Lord who dwells in eternal light
And is Sovereign on his throne.

It is valuable to sing the blessings of Scripture over each other as we are gathered together as the church. This song is a simple folk melody which we can use as a prayer for God’s blessing over us. …the God of peace is returning to call His children home My own prayers are often inarticulate or vague, but I think I would benefit in those times to bring to mind some of the prayers that the New Testament authors used when blessing their Christian readers. What can I pray for my brothers and sisters? Their sanctification – that they would be made pure and kept blameless. How? In both their souls and their bodies. Why? Because the God of peace is returning to call His children home. Having these words in a song can help prompt you when your prayers become distracted or vague. And when we pray in line with the words of Scripture, we begin to adopt an attitude and an agenda which reflects those of its authors, and, more importantly, its Author.
